The living water

June 7, 2024

Dear Church Family,

The border mission team has had an incredible week experiencing the work of the Holy Spirit at
the border here in Texas. We met with some great people doing really hard ministry; people that
we can continue to grow our relationships with and our ministry with. We’ve prayed with them,
cried with them and listened to them.

We also talked with so many individuals and families, offering love and blessings to each of
them. In these discussions we have talked a lot about water. It has been over 100 degrees each
day and water in this heat is important, especially for those spending so much time out in the

We need water to survive. We use water in baptism and for cleansing purposes. Yet water can
also be destructive and deadly. We spoke with people who went without water for too long. We
met people who travelled through water. And a family that lost their 4-year-old son to the water.

Water brings life; water takes life. Jesus has another kind of water to offer each of us. Jesus said,
“whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst but have a spring of life welling up within.”
Water that brings life. Water that moves and rushes and satisfies like nothing else.

We witnessed this water at work so many times this week. Wednesday afternoon we went with a
pastor to the town square in Brownsville where people come out of the border crossing after a
long hard journey. He hands out snacks, offers welcome, sings to them, gives them directions
and gives them water! The water he hands them is gone in moments. The living water that he
lavishes on them through the Holy Spirit never runs dry.

Receive that living water. Look for that living water at work around you. Offer that living water
to another. It is a water that brings life!

May you receive the water that Christ offers, water that never runs dry, water that gives life!

You are loved, you are cherished, you are a child of God.

See you Sunday,
Pastor Caroline

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,

but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.

Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water

welling up to eternal life.”
