Sharing the love of Christ

April 26, 2024

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

~Matthew 28:19-20

Dear Church Family,

On Sunday in worship we had the blessing of baptizing two men into our fellowship. It is always
such a joy when someone makes the decision to give all that they have to following the way of
Jesus. As the body of Christ, we welcome each new person with open arms.

Jesus’ command is that we go and make disciples, teaching them and baptizing them. It seems
like a simple enough command until we go about the task. That is when we realize the
importance of Jesus’ reminder that he is with us always.

Sharing the love of Christ and teaching others what it is that brings you such joy and peace can
be intimidating. How can something so great, so important, be left to someone so small and
insignificant.

Well, if you were in worship on Sunday you might have said the same thing when you saw
Miguel stand next to me as he prepared to be baptized. You might have said, “how can
something so great be left to something so small?” Miguel stands well over six feet tall. I top out
at whopping five feet nothing! How?

It wasn’t easy, as you saw! But it also wasn’t up to me. I was not alone in those waters, I never
am. When God gives you the opportunity to share the teachings of Jesus with another you are not
alone, God is right there with you. Just take a deep breath of Holy Spirit and go for it. It’s always
worth it to see another experience God.

You are loved, you are cherished, you are a child of God.

See you Sunday,
Pastor Caroline
