Safe space

June 21, 2024

Dear Church Family,

Wednesday night many of us gathered together at a great local restaurant and had a good time of
fellowship and discussion. It was so nice to have a relaxed environment where we could discuss
some important topics. There are always so many issues that we are bombarded with through
conversation, the news and even our own decision making.

It is so important to have a safe and loving space to discuss important topics. To think through
important situations, you need a place where you know you are loved and that you are not
judged.

Remember that your opinion is just that, your opinion. Remember that your interpretation of
scripture is just that, your interpretation. This means that others can have a different opinion and
still be loved. This means that others can have a different interpretation of scripture and still be
loved. You are loved and cherished no matter your opinion or interpretation. Each person is so
much more than any one opinion or interpretation.

Our church family is exactly the place where safe conversations should happen. Wednesday
night was a great example of this, and we will continue to make this space available. Come and
share your thoughts so that we can think through critical issues together. We need different
opinions and interpretations to have a full understanding of any issue.

I encourage each of you to be that safe space for each other, for your family and for those around
you. Dialoging and thinking through these issues is important and it can only be done if we feel
safe with one another. Be welcoming of other opinions and interpretations. You do not have to
agree; you do have to show love.

May the wisdom of the Holy Spirit guide you as you listen.

You are loved, you are cherished, you are a child of God.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Caroline

“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.
For the judgment you give will be the judgment you get,
and the measure you give will be the measure you get.”
