The Psalms included in the Hebrew Scriptures were the songbook of the Jewish people. They expressed individual joy and sorrow and were used in the praise of God as the people worshipped together. These beautiful poems still have resonance as they allow us to express our hopes and fears, our griefs and our celebrations.
Over the next few weeks we will consider the varied emotions of some of these psalms in worship.
