Our History

In September 1985, seven people met for a Bible Study in the home of George and Mary Beth Busbee. In the first five months, the congregation’s growth necessitated two quick moves: the first move into the¬†Sweetbottom Plantation Clubhouse and the second move into an office building located in the Duluth Professional Park on McClure Bridge Road.

In 1988, the congregation purchased a beautiful 22 acre tract on State Bridge Road and moved two modular units on the permanent site in May 1989. As a mission of Second Ponce Baptist Church of Atlanta, the church was constituted on October 6, 1991 with 144 members.

The congregation broke ground in August of 1993 on Phase I, a ten thousand square foot, million dollar worship center, office suite, and educational space. Phase II, a 20,000 square foot education facility and fellowship, was also complete in 1999. As of December 2018, Parkway has approximately 175 active members and an annual ministry budget of $575,000. The church recently paid off the mortgage on the property and is debt-free.
