Our History

In September 1985, seven people met for a Bible Study in the home of George and Mary Beth Busbee. In the first five months, the congregation’s growth necessitated two quick moves: the first move into the Sweetbottom Plantation Clubhouse and the second move into an office building located in the Duluth Professional Park on McClure Bridge Road.

In 1988, the congregation purchased a beautiful 22 acre tract on State Bridge Road and moved two modular units on the permanent site in May 1989. As a mission of Second Ponce Baptist Church of Atlanta, the church was constituted on October 6, 1991 with 144 members.

The congregation broke ground in August of 1993 on Phase I, a ten thousand square foot, million dollar worship center, office suite, and educational space. Phase II, a 20,000 square foot education facility and fellowship, was also complete in 1999. As of December 2018, Parkway has approximately 175 active members and an annual ministry budget of $575,000. The church recently paid off the mortgage on the property and is debt-free.
