Believing in Jesus

April 5, 2024

Jesus said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.

The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.

Do you believe this?”
~John 11:25-26

Dear Church Family,
What a beautiful Easter celebration we had at Parkway on Sunday! I am so thankful for our
church family and for each of you. I hope that you were able to experience the joy of the faith
community on Sunday if you were unable to be here with us.

Jesus not only resurrected; he tells us that he is the resurrection. Not only did Jesus resurrect, we
have new life in him. The mystery of Easter is something that we get to spend time with. The
mystery is more than we can experience or understand. That’s why it’s mystery!

Jesus said, “the one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by
believing in me will never die.” How can that be? We have never experienced this, and we do
not know anyone who has experienced this, so we cannot know.

The next thing Jesus says is, “Do you believe this?” He does not say, “Do you understand this?”
Jesus does not ask for our understanding or our knowledge. Jesus asks for our belief. Do you
believe?

We celebrated Easter on Sunday; however, Easter is every day for us as Christians. We live each
and every day in a world where we believe that our savior has resurrected; where we believe that
we have life in him.

May you embrace the mystery and that you believe. May you encounter the risen Christ each and
every day as though it were Easter.

You are loved, you are cherished, you are a child of God.

See you Sunday,
Pastor Caroline
