TITLE: Administrative Assistant, PART TIME

Role Summary

The Administrative Assistant at Parkway Baptist Church is an integral member of the organization, managing the church office including communications to leaders and members and maintaining the records of the church.  

The ideal candidate will be someone who is familiar with christian church life and able to support church leadership and members as needed to ensure the church is able to fully serve our members, ministry and community partners in a loving, accepting and coordinated way. 

Gifted with a warm and outgoing personality, the administrative assistant is expected to support the church’s  commitment to God’s mission of reconciliation in the world, including global ministries of economic and social justice, with a heart for compassionate service and developing relationships with all of God’s children.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain church records including membership, directory, attendance and contributions.
  2. Maintain the church prayer list and ensure awareness amongst staff, deacons, and Bible study leaders of ministry needs.
  3. Assist pastor and lay leaders with correspondence and communications.
  4. Maintain calendars for the Pastor and the church as a whole and communicate as needed.
  5. Update and maintain communications tools including  the church website, emails, newsletters, new member materials, materials for Sunday worship and Wednesday Bible Study and other meetings,  and other materials.
  6. Attend meetings to take minutes, transcribe those minutes and distribute them to all committee chairs and staff as needed.
  7. Support events in the church life including – Baptisms, Lord’s Supper, Baby Dedications and Fellowship  opportunities.
  8. Coordinate work and visitors to the church including for maintenance and inspections.
  9. Manage office including the receiving of incoming calls, distribution of mail, ordering of supplies.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 

  • Experienced administrative assistant with 5 or more years of experience. 
  • Warm, outgoing and approachable personality, with a professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication skills – oral, written and listening.
  • Able administrator with well-developed organizational and technology skills, including:
    • Microsoft Office Applications
    • Google Applications
    • Web based communications tools including Mail Chimp and editing of existing WordPress website
  • Able to work in a self-guided manner and as a member of a team.
