The Men’s Prayer Group meets each Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. at Magnolia Bakery and Cafe, 5175 South Old Peachtree Road in Norcross.  In addition to praying for church members, friends, and other concerns, they discuss a chapter in a book relevant for living out our Christian faith in the world.

The group is currently reading David Brooks’  “The Road to Character.” While not an overtly Christian book, it applies the principle of “the first Adam and the second Adam” to discuss the deeper values that should inform our lives. Brooks challenges people to rebalance the scales between our “resumé virtues” — achieving wealth, fame, and status — and our “eulogy virtues,” those that exist at the core of our being: kindness, bravery, honesty, and faithfulness.

Beginning February 8 they will be discussing Adam Hamilton’s “Making Sense of the Bible:Rediscovering the Power of Scripture Today.” This study, projected to last about six months, will include an overview of both the Old and New Testaments, questions about the nature of Scripture, and making sense of the Bible’s challenging passages.

Any man is welcome to join the group for this study. If you have any questions, contact Jim King at
